Welcome to the Western NC Woodworkers Association Web site! We are a group of area woodworkers who enjoy getting together once each month to share our knowledge of woodworking tools, techniques and project experiences.
Hi everyone!
January is all but gone and we still seem to be having fall-like weather! But it is time to announce our February meeting, which will be a field trip to Cormark International in Weaverville, just a few miles north of Asheville, on Saturday, February 11th at 9:30 AM. Our host for the talking tour will be Jason Bunn, Cormark’s National Sales Executive. Cormark is the prime supplier of exotic woods for Woodcraft and Rockler stores across the country. They deal in lumber stock (domestic and exotic species) and turning blanks ranging from bowl to pen stock in a broad spectrum of species. You probably will not need a chair as we will be moving around the interior of the facility while Jason and Fabs explain how they procure these products and get them to their facility in Weaverville and then out to their customers.
After the tour, we will serve coffee and refreshments.
Because this is a field trip, I will not be bringing our projector and screen for members to use a memory stick for our Show ‘N Tell session, but that doesn’t mean you can’t should off a small project if you’d like to bring it. If you are interested in picking up some lumber, blanks or even “cutoffs”, we can purchase products using cash or checks.
We are looking forward seeing a good turnout and to hearing more about this very successful NC business! We will have Membership forms for guests and members that are renewing for 2012, so bring your checkbooks.
